Are you looking for a proven way to thrive in your life? You may be surprised that moving the needle on your own self-compassion can get you there and beyond.
Let's pause and examine what self-compassion is.
Kristin Neff, PhD and Christopher Germer, PhD co-authored the book The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook and are co-founders of the Center for Mindful Compassion. In their research they've discovered that we all build barriers to success, love and fulfillment. They describe self-compassion as such:
Self-compassion involves treating yourself the way you would treat a friend who is having a
hard time --- even if your friend blew it or is feeling inadequate, or is just facing a touch life challenge.
Western culture places great emphasis on being kind to our friends, family, and neighbors who are struggling. Not so when it comes to ourselves. Self-compassion is a practice in which we learn to be a good friend toourselves when we need it most --- to become an inner ally rather than an inner enemy.
For the next week I challenge all of us at Inspired Science Coaching (ISC) to lean into this practice of self-compassion and become our own best friend and inner ally.
